Arab City Jail can house up to 16 men and 8 women with the tank for intox or other type of isolation needs. Inmates in the Arab City Jail are people awaiting trial or people sentenced for a short duration. Inmates are sometimes used for work details with the Arab Street Department and also used for cleaning trash along the roadside. Inmates are taken out and supervised by a Jailer. The city recently purchased a van to transport inmates and pick up inmates from other police departments.

This list will be made available to incoming arrestees or incarcerated individuals who are eligible to post bond.
Church services are held every Sunday from 4:00pm 5:00pm
Visitation is held on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month beginning at 10:00am until 12:00pm. An inmate is allowed up to four (4) persons to visit for a total of twenty minutes. In order to visit an inmate you must call (256) 586-8124 during the week prior to visitation to get placed on the visitation list. Also, when you come to visit an inmate you must provide a valid ID. No items will be taken in the visitation area (ie; purses, bags, items for inmate property, etc )
INMATE PROPERTY DROP-OFF
Inmate property is to be dropped off only Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 5:00pm - 10:00pm. The only exception will be when an inmate has first been arrested and needs property brought to them.
Inmate mail and Inmate money can be received at any time.
Inmates are allowed to keep a maximum of $20.00 either on them or locked with their personal property. Once money is given to an Inmate it is the Inmates sole responsibility to keep up with his or her own money. Family members or friends are encouraged to bring one dollar bills or quarters for purchasing items in the jail store.
Arab City Jail will no longer provide over the counter medication for inmates. Should an inmate require any over the counter medication, it can be brought by a family member as long as it is in a new sealed container. Over the counter medication is considered community property.
Any prescription medication will be secured in the inmates locker and given only at the prescribed times listed on the medication bottle.
The jail store is a privilege granted by the Chief of Police and the Shift Supervisors. This privilege can be suspended for disciplinary reasons, abuse, or other infractions as may be determined by the Shift Supervisor or the Chief of Police
The jail store will offer items on a daily basis. The time and frequency of the jail store will depend on the availability of items or availability of Jail Staff.
Items offered in the jail store will consist of an assortment of drinks, coffee, candy, and pastries. Most items will be priced from $0.50 to $1.00.
ARAB CITY JAIL IS A NON-SMOKING FACILITY
However, Inmates are taken outside to smoke at times. Should an Inmate be brought cigarettes, they will be placed in community property.

The following is a list of items an inmate is allowed to have in the jail area:
1 comb or hairbrush
1 book or magazine (approved by jail staff)
1 Bible or religious book
5 pairs of white socks
5 pair of white undergarments
5 white sports bras (no wires)
5 white T-shirts
5 pair of gym shorts (not pockets)(white or orange)
1 pair of thermal underwear (wintertime only)
1 pair of sweatpants/shirt (white or gray) (wintertime only)
1 pair of shoes (no hard soles, ie: work boots, cowboy boots)
1 pair of flip-flops
1 wireless notepad and pencil
1 book of stamps
1 handheld battery powered radio
1 new white pillow (must be in plastic)
1 new white pillow case
Toiletry items - toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, soap, etc... All must be in clear bottles.
Any items for special needs must be approved by the shift supervisor.
